High Heaton Residents Survey

Doreen_High_Heaton_Residents_SurveyThanks to the hundreds of residents who returned our special “Spring Clean” High Heaton Estate resident survey during February – as ever, we are grateful for your responses and feedback on local issues and concerns.

We’ve been out talking to residents and listening to your views. One of the major concerns remains the problem of commuter parking in the northern part of the estate and we have collected many signatures on our petition calling on the council to reconsider its refusal to act on this increasing problem – we presented this to council in March. This is the last neighbourhood in the area which does not have a residents parking zone and it is bearing the brunt of the Hospital and Ministry parking problems – the council needs to act to address this issue.

DOREEN has also been in communication with Your Homes Newcastle (YHN) about  plans for more dropped kerbs, driveways, and bays to reduce the problem. We’ve also asked for action on dog fouling at the Spinney pathways and at Duxfield Road (we removed 16 bags of dog mess from this location ourselves recently after reporting it to the council three times without success). Many residents commented on their strong opposition to Labour’s multi-million pound Civic Centre refurbishment plans – as well as Labour’s proposal for raising tenant rents by 3%.
