Newton Place – Unnecessary plans to repave.

unnecessary plans to repave Pressure from DOREEN has paid off – we have persuaded the council to rethink unnecessary plans to repave  the  area in front of Newton Road shops in favour of  repairs to the road surfaces and pavements at Newton  Place and sections of Newton Road. This is more useful as the surfaces are in poor condition and this area is  used by older people at the Spinney and people using the Library and Woodlands Centre. Although there had  been some improvements, we are concerned the litter on the “green” is still a problem in term-time – we will  follow this up for enforcement action and have asked for more co-operation between the school and the council on litter. We’re not happy that virtually every litter bin in the area is overflowing – the council isn’t emptying them often enough.
