DOREEN and GREG have been working to support the efforts of volunteers who are seeking to safeguard and enhance our local parks following council cutbacks.
We would like to commend the efforts of the Friends of Paddy Freemans Park and Heaton Model Boat Club who have carried out two sessions to dredge the lake of leaves and debris, leaving the lake looking much nicer.
We’re also thrilled to see work taking place to install the new play equipment (and new willow arches and bird boxes) at Iris Brickfield and offered assistance to a parents group looking to apply for funds for new kit at Heaton Park.
Meanwhile, GREG has asked questions at the city council regarding progress towards setting up a Trust to manage the city’s parks.
