Chillingham Road litter petition & planters

Chillingham Road litter petition & plantersDOREEN presented the Lib Dem FOCUS Team petition on behalf of local residents at February’s city council calling for the council to review street cleaning service levels on Chillingham Road following increasing complaints about litter and overflowing bins. Thanks to everyone who signed!  We’re calling for the council to re-start weekend street cleaning here – it is often in a poor state on Monday mornings after a weekend of fast food litter.
DOREEN is arranging for purchasing of more plants for the planters at this spot and elsewhere in the ward – we would like to thank the Groundwork Trust volunteers for their litter picking efforts and also the lovely people at Duxfield Road allotments for agreeing to our suggestion that they “adopt” the planter at the corner of Goswick Avenue and Benton Road – they will be replacing the soil and planting flowering shrubs for the spring. We have also made a small grant to CRIB, a community group helping to keep the planters cheerful . We know residents value the way we’ve worked to keep ‘greenery’ in the ward.
